A friend offered to loan me Medal of Honor Allied Assult I think it is, is that game all right in your opinion, I realize Call of Duty is most likely superior but I'd like to have some input so I know what to expect I guess. Thanks everyone.
yeh MOH is good, ive only ever played it on gamecube and ps2 but they were great and apparently the pc games are far superior.
Thanks, I played it on GameCube for like two minutes but the gfx looked so grainy and pixilated (I hope that was just the TV) and the controls weren't great either, then again I'm not really into consoles either.
I hate the graphics, they look awful to me. But we have been spoiled by CS:S/HL2/Doom 3 etc, so thats probably why.
Usually I'm fairly impressed with how far they can push the console hardware, especilally the PS2 concidering it came out in like early 2000 and has only 4MB of vram I think, pretty impressive. I'll blame it on the crappy (and tiny) TV, it's really bad when you're really close to it to, does things to your head...
omg ahh lol exfoliate lol but MOH i the storyline is okay... the graphics aren't the best but on pc they're a lil better and im not even gonna talk about the controls.
i liked MOH. Then again, I wasn't paying for it. I don't care about graphics hence why I'm still a huge half-life engine fan.
Ahh, Medal of Honour: Allied Assault, my introduction to WW2 shooters. Now, MOH wasn't exactly a brilliant game, in fact there are certain parts of it I would REALLY avoid playing again, but it was a good game, it has done something that no other WW2 game has been able to reproduce with any decency, the D-day Omaha beach landing. That entire level was horrifying, in some ways it made you feel as if you were there, but that's not even the first mission of the game, oh no, in fact it's the 3rd mission, ok, so there's only 8 missions (correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I remember) but it's still a long-lasting game, the missions are long and varied. They are even somewhat realistic to an extent, and unlike Call of Duty you start off as an American soldier and you STAY that way throughout the whole game. The medals add an essence of replayability as well, for each of the missions you can earn a medal if you achieve certain objectives that AREN'T listed in your normal mission objectives, all except the mission 3 medal, you get that if you survive, kinda hard to not get it. Sure, the AI isn't as good as CoD either but when you consider what AI was like at that time you gotta admire it. Overall I would recommend you get the game, it's a good challenge and it's a change from CoD, although I have yet to play any of the exp packs yet.
Hey, nice little review there WWR, thanks bud. only 8 missions? Doesn't the thing come with 4 CD's, pretty poor ratio there if I'm correct.
4 CDs? Hmm, my MOH:AA only had the one, then again it doesn't include expansion packs or any of that jazz, perhaps they re-released it, iono. And just for a little more comparison here's a chart: MoH:AA is better than RtCW, CoD pwns RtCW, CoD is better than MoH:AA. You're welcome about the review, Exfoliate, but as I said, the missions are pretty long, it will take quite a while to complete each one, the first mission is about 4-5 levels long. Though I swear German Engineers shouldn't be THAT good with pistols...
Though I'm sure that my take on it is a little late, I just thought I'd mention that I also think MOH is worth playing for sure. Great game play. I think as far as the "funness" of the two games goes, they are about the same. COD, however, has better graphics and being able to aim your gun like that is pretty nice too. Both awesome games though. :good:
Thanks you two, hmmm, maybe my friend got some deal on a game/expansion packs value thing as he said it came with 4 CD's, I imagine he counted properly though his track record shows otherwise, about a week ago he asked me how to spell "drugs"...
Haha! Your friend might have the War Chest edition, I think it contains the original game as well as Spearhead and Breakthrough, possibly Pacific Assault too but I'm only guessing here.
Okay, it turned out to be MOH Pacific Assult, which is kinda cool as it's the most modern (right?) so the gfx are quite nice. The physics suck, particularly the animation involved, the campaigns are fairly fun, and your squadrin is a cool bunch of blokes. And it did come in 4 CD's it turned out. It was really frustrating at first though as it wouldn't function properly, it would start and then a second later before the ads even started it would minimize and refuse to stay open. I tried lower detail setting just for the heck of it, different CD's (it said CD 1 but only 4 actually allowed me to play), etc. I finally resorted to shutting down all non SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, taskmgr, and explorer.exe processes, and amazingly enough that worked just fine (lost my bloody F@H progress, grrr.). So now I'm playing w/ all the settings cranked up to max, save the resolution, and it looks nice (the water might even give FarCry a run for it's money) and plays well.
funnily enough Exfoliate I have to shut down f@h when playin any game because it just minimises and wont open up. I have no idea why but its not a big strain on me.
Hmm, the only thing I have to do with F@H as far as games are concerned is stop it from working while I play FFXI (makes the game lag BIG time if it's working), other than that it's fine and dandy.
Same thing happened to me with MOH PA, I'd see about 2 seconds of the opening sponcer stuff and then it would go down in the task bar and hide. Weird thing is Doom 3 doesn't do this, go figure, though Pacific Assult does require at least 512MB's of ram, and that's all I've got.
