Hey all, My comp has the following spec: 700 Celeron (really needs upgrading) Gigabyte 6xxxxxxC7 Motherboard (so does this) Gainward GF4 mx450 (really a 420) 8gb HD (no comment) 192mbRam (1x64mb 1x128mb) Ive just bought another 256mb ram and the idea was to take out the 64 and put this in giving me 320mb. This hasn't worked tho, Ive only got 256. I checked with the gigabyte website and the board does support upto 512 with 256 modules. Ive tried each stick of memory in both slots and they both show up as 128mb. Does this sound like I've been sold 128mb for the price of 256? or could I be missing something.
just hope you get the right one this time, try to make a complaint, they might give you a 512MB stick doubt it though, since you are in the uk, like me
lol, I was thinking of taking my old 64mb back (with a clean up) and saying 'this is what u supplied me with', doubt thatl'l work either. Ive had nothing but problems with this PC since I tried copying 11 folders at a time from CD to HD. Also I seem to have worse performance now with 256 than I did with 192mb. Its really going weird, I have to reinstall every month. I'm gonna buy a tower case this month (loads of room to work with) and build my perfect comp, month buy month until I can eventually turn it on. What benchtest progs do you guys recommend? edit: oh Merry Xmas everyone
I use SiSoft Sandra, Mad Onion (now Futurmark)'s 3DMark 2001SE, Vulpine GL, Clibench, and Science Mark. Also Quake III is still pretty popular, and you can get by with the demo if you just want to benchmark it. A good CPU stress test, especially if you're overclocking, is Prime95.
Thx, I will look for these now. I have Q3 just not installed at the mo. I also have medal of honor installed which I believe runs on the same engine. I get pauses of about 2-3 seconds everytime I turn round on screen and it all seems a bit choppy.
