I'm talking about physical difference here, I realize that USB 1.0 was super slow and 1.1 wasn't exactly meant for transfering gig's of data and all but can any of you tell me how one would be able to tell the difference between say a USB 1/1.1 cable and a usb 2.0 cable? Is the pin orientation the same? And when they throw in those mini usb cables things get really weird. Thanks.
Im probably wrong but I think USB 2.0 is made out of a different wire and has a UTMI, but thats as much as I know really
Maybe it just has more pins so the data can be transfered more quickly ? Like the IDE cable for instance.
mini usb, like USB to usb4-pin, or 6-pin? I think it's just the transfer rate, I wouldn't doubt pin orientation to be the same, and I heard that usb2.0 speads were supposed to be far greater but the expected speeds couldn't be reached for some reason.
Thanks, so if you had an old usb 1 cable and a usb 2 cable side by side they'd look the same? Well that can't be good.
usb1 and 2 cables I think are the same thing, The controller and device are the only thing that affect speeds.
You can compare it to ethernet cables. They are all the same, but some can run at 10MB/s and some at 100MB/s. It all about the controller. -Joe
