bought new video card

    Hi i bought a new video card. i used to have the intel graphics chip on my mother board but was trying to run a game like galaxies. well it didnt work so i bought a new one its a geforce fx 5200 128mp. now i can run galxies but i lag. so i bough more memory 1 gb and a new harddrive 160gb. i installed them and it still doesnt run any faster. i probably have to tweak it but i dont know what settings it should be on is there any advice or anywhere i can go. currently its hard for me since i live in japan on a miltary base not much computer people to help.

    The card you bought is not a gaming card.
    That card was the budget card last year, so you can imagine what it is right now.
    Therefore, it's only normal that any recent games you throw at it won't run in their full glory.

    I'm affraid that the only solution is to get a new card like a 9800 Pro for instance. It's not the best but it's a very good card.

    Yup, AT's right, sadly that card is near the bottom of the rung in terms of raw gaming power, though it's certainly better than integrated most any 2004/5 games may run from a little choppy to framerates in the single digits depending on the settings. Even if you blow $100 bucks on say a 9600XT you'll notice a major difference. Hard drives unfortunatly don't really help your gaming performance, mainly load times in this instance, though that gig of ram should help you along.

    Yep, I'll go with the guys. A 5200? All I can say is :ah: no way!!! If you wanna play games you should get something more . . . decent. I dont know what your planning to spend, but I think you can find the best bang for the buck on two cards right now: Nvidia's 6600gt or ATI's 9800pro.
