Hi Hopefully someone can shed some light on the following. I have recently purchased a new P4V88 motherboard to use with Intel P4 Prescott processor. Although I am happy with the board’s functionality and performance, I have noticed, that Windows indicates that my P4, 3.0Ghz Prescott is only running at 2.95Ghz. I have therefore entered the BIOS setting screen and changed the ‘CPU Host Frequency’ to Manual. However, I cannot change the value of the ‘Actual Frequency’. Is this a fault? Also is it possible to unlock the ratio status? Thanks all for looking. Keep it cool :good:
Assuming that the "host" frequency is your FSB speed then you can change the speed of your P4. Your "Actual Frequency" is the result of your FSb and multiplier value multiplied rolleyes. I'm not familiar with P4 bus speeds, so change your FSB value in very small increments until your actual speed is 3GHz.
Thanks for the reply Unfortunately that is my problem...I cannot change the FSB value. I used to be able to, in my previous MB - P4VT8+. The only frequency I seem to be able to change now is the RAM (133 to 200Mhz) I have send a message to ASRock, but I thought maybe someone out there is familliar with ASRock MB or BIOS. Thanks again Saba
Some processors do not read at the exact frequency they are sold at. My old computer was sold at 3.2 GHz but it ran at like 3.19. Don't worry about, it won't be enough to notice.
