Hi there, Here's the thing : I got a new SATA HDD (I had before an IDE HDD) connected to my computer, I want to install XP but it won't let me. Whenever I select the HDD, it says : "This disk does not contain a windows XP copmpatibe partition" and that's it, I cannot continue install XP. My hardware: WD Caviar SE SATAII 160GB, Jetway board with i865 chipset. I pressed F6 to use a WD Raid Controller driver, but that didn't help neither. Can someone help please? Thanks, Udi G
With XP, you need to make an OEM driver floppy for your SATA drivers, hit F6 when the system first initializes, then select your proper SATA driver from the list (that's the driver for your SATA controller). leave the floppy in until the setup completes.
I've tried to make a disk with Intel driver, and I tried to make a disk with WD driver, both none worked. Problem with Inteel driver is that I have ICH5 but the driver let me choose ICH5R and above, I couldn't find a driver for ICH5. So I'm still looking for a solution, this sucks big time
did you format the drive before you tried to install? its just if you have depending on how it is formated XP won't install e.g. if there is no primary partition
I tried to install it unformatted at first, then I format it, but still no luck.... Maybe I should move on to Vista beta 1.....
