Nice harrack, i'll be getting a new card after xmas, either 6800GT or Ultra and another 512mb mem so i should be able to catch up
On my old system: AMD XP 2400+ @ 2 GHz 1 GB PC2700 Ram Gigabyte GA7N400 Pro2 mobo PowerColor Radeon 9800 256MB I got 10,350 in 3DMark 2001 SE with the resolution set at 1280X1024!
John you need to really run the benchmarks at their default settings, this enables everyone else to view and compare their benchmark to yours and your system accuratley :good: *Edit - You should really bench your new system looks awesome
Ok, just installed my new 6600GT 128MB (comparable to 9800Pro / XT i think) and benchmarked: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8338381 I don't think my AGP driver is installed, i'm not sure, will go check then re-benchmark
OK after these changes to my system: New memory (PC4400 GeIL Ultra) Dual Channel Memory (no longer Single) Overclocked Graphics card (564/1.3Ghz) I get: 19983 in 3dmark01se 3dmark03 will be more of a difference, as the 6600GT is basically a 9800Pro - alot of 9800Pros perform better in 3dMark01 as its better at DX8, where as 3dmark03 6600GT will perform quite abit better.
How is the 6600GT "basically" a 9800pro? I usually found aquamark to be a bit better. Underwater environments look better. Cool...
i wasn't suggesting that the 6600GT is the same architechture or design, as obviously they are completely different, my point being that the 6600GT and 9800Pro are very very similiar in performance, although the 9800Pro performs slightly better in older games (that utilise DX8.0/8.1). Where as the 6600GT is designed for DX9.0 and wipes the flaw with the 9800Pro in terms of performance:value compared to 9800Pro.
I am getting 5630 marks with the system over there <<< what do you suggest I should do to up them? I am perpetually broke so I cant realy buy anything new should I overclock? and if so by how much and how? thanks in advance
You have a very good CPU, but the real bottleneck in your system is your graphics card and your RAM. With a Radeon 7500 and RAM working at only PC2100 (as sticks work at lowest stick's speed) you're never going to get past 7000. You could tweak your scores slightly by overclocking your graphics card, but overclocking your CPU won't make much difference since thats not the problem. Also if you do want to overclock your CPU, you shouldn't do so with stock cooling.
Using my graphics card (6600 GT baby!) I got quite a good score on 3Dmark2001 but I can't really remember what it was. All I know is that I can play Painkiller on the 'Insane' graphics settings and it runs like a dream, even when fighting a boss! And Doom 3 just looks jaw-dropping, not to mention scary.
so perhapse i should take out the slow memory bringing it back up to speed? that would still leave 512mb, but is that enough? should i rake the £80 it takes for another stick of 3200? maybe better since i bought the other one for that about a year ago >.> nothing much i can do for the gfx card, maybe overclock it now and see if i can scrounge/binrake a newer one off of someone later heheh.....
I think 512mb will be enough to run games at good FPS. And another stick of 512mb will only cost you £40 or so, not £80. Its up to you what you do. You could try overclocking your 7500 what you can. I suppose instead of buying more RAM, if you got a cheap Radeon 9600pro or something for a bit more than a stick of RAM it would make much more difference.
i removed the pc2100 and overclocked everything else (cpu x10, fsb 220, gfx 330.75/200.25, memory 400mhz 3-3-3-6) i got 6787 marks. not bad considering my system >.> ok, time to clock down before my box explodes
hi all newbie bragging here so gett mad if you want j/k 3DMark 2001se 25228 thats all standard settings absolutely no overclocking
how the holy hell did you get a system like that that must have cost at least 2 grand... nice score anyway :good:
its not all new i kept my old hard drives, dvd drives, case and psu (Seasonic 400 watt super tornado ) that were 12 months so i guess i saved a few pennies, and sold the old stuff to a friend, but i recently changed the case from an Antec super lanboy to a P160, it all runs smooth i haven't had any probs since i built it. that and having a good paying job helps as well
Its a nice score, but i have to say for an FX55 / Corsair 2GB (i presume 2-2-2-5) & an Ultra 6800 i would expect more at stock levels: perhaps 28, 29K.
