Matt Freeman is a pretty fantastic bassist, check out the solo at the end of "Maxwell Murder" for reference.

Speaking of good bassists, Stu Hamm is probably one of the best studio bassists around, check him out. Tours with Satriani a lot.

And John Entwistle... may he rest in peace, will always be one of my favorite bassists.

I can't believe this thread is still going since I used to be around here a lot haha

well my friends for me much has changed, but I can throw out some sweet names for you guys to check out. Alexi sort of lost a bit of respect from me along the way so hes out, and right! Pastorius was a crazy bassist, save for his drug problems, he could've been so much more.

    check out -

Andy Timmons - Solo Artist Now

Thomas Blug - German Solo Guitarist

Lee Gaze and Lewis Philips - Story of the Year (they may not be amazing lead guitarists but many people don't realize just how tight and intense their rhythms and transitions can be)

    Eric Johnson - Solo Artist

Nuno Bettencourt - from the 80/90's band Extreme

David Gilmour still stands tall in my book, and Joe Satriani and Vai still get some commemoration although I feel I've moved on from their style, I don't really appreciate yngwie too much after looking past many live interviews and such, and John Petrucci of Dream Theater seems to be finally finding his soulful side! :chk: who would've known, seems like G3 is making quite an influence on him

Another great guitarist is Australian Tommy Emmanuel.

I think he is now mostly resident in the UK - I have seen several of his shows - he is brilliant.
