I am trying to reinstall windows xp home ed.

I ran a 'reinstall a bad installation' hoping it would cure some other problems (bad move..)

I now have a window reading ' File needed: 'asms' file from Windows service pack 1 cannot be found on CD, please enter location and press ok'

I am using a reinstallation cd containing service pack 1a already.

    What do I do?

Are you trying to reinstall Windows inside a Windows environment?

Have you fixed the missing file?
