im trying to remove a virus from a friends pc, and i need to get into safe mode to remove the virus, but when i try to enter safe mode my monitor says "input range out of signal" any idea how i can change this??

when i firts turned it on i had to change the resolution as it was a bigger resolution than 1024x768 which is the native reso for my monitor.

Please help. I have to boot my system into safe mode. My system is infected beyond belief with viruses and spyware not to mention adware. I have WinXP Home and the option to boot into VGA mode is there but it is not safe mode. Safe mode with VGA is not available. I am pretty good with computers but this one I need some serious help with.

    Thanks
