There is no denying that halo (2)has had a huge success for bringing FPS's to the xbox. There has been a huge amount of accolade and applause for the game. Having played it on the xbox, i could see why it had been successful. But i always had in the back of my mind, that it could not stand up to FPS that were on the PC. So (for a while) i was be safe in the knowledge that xbox owners who said "Its the best game of all time!!!" were ignorant to FPS on the PC that easily surpassed it. But after the sequel, and being brought to the pc and now there being a movie made about it, i cant contain myself anymore. Does anybody else see the strenuous repetetiveness of the game, the bland weapons, and the blatant "Halo 2 is so much better... its shinier!!!". Now maybe halo could afford to be repetetive because it was designed for a casual gamer in which case it has been designed to suit them, but that (in my opinion) does not give them the audactiy to label it the best game of all time. But it may not be the statement that it annoys me so much (as its their opinion), its the fact they are unwilling to listen to the possibility that there might be better games. (i usually have to walk away if they utter the phrase "Whats Half Life?") :swear: But hey, this might just be me having a rant about something unfounded.

What are your opinions on Halo? ...

I loved the first game, i liked it for its tactical, slightly slower paced combat than normal FPS games.

Not tried Halo 2, but I can see that play can get repetitive.

I thought Halo 1 was a decent game, never played it for Xbox though, I got my Xbox after Halo 1 came out for PC, Halo 2 wasn't all that good though. But Halo 2 was still much better than either Half Life.

I've always found it odd, I can't stand Half Life 1 or 2 (as you can tell) but I loved Opposing Force, do OF2 for Half Life 2 and I will be addicted to it.

I am both a console and pc FPS gamer. Im taking either side but i will say that i think that we just have to remember that it is just an opinion and it shouldnt bother us what others opinions are.

As a console game, it's amazing. I'm the type that just hates FPS games on a console. I didn't play much, but Halo was pretty fun---this coming from a person that does not see FPS games working very well for the console. However, compared with what's available on the PC, it doesn't fare too well. I don't think it would've done nearly as well as other games had it been launched on the PC.

I liked Halo1 on PC. Single player was great, and multiplayer even better. When I first tried Halo2 on Xbox, I was not impressed with what they had done. Basically they just added dual weapon support and a few new maps, and the single player storyline sucked to top it off.

Well, I don't like the single palyer mode, but then again I don't like any single player games. The thing that aggravates me, which kinda relates to this topic, is when my Xbox obsessed friends won't listen to me when I say, "Why pay $800 for a computer and $500 for a 360 when you can pay $1300 on a PC that will completely destroy any console?" Maybe people just don't want to be better.

I must say I really enjoy the Halo series. I think the recharging shields were a great design choice, the vehicles are fun and I have no problem with the weapons. Granted there's a level or two (the Library in the origional) that left a lot to be desired but I just found it to be a real high quality gaming experience. And where I live most of my friends have Xbox's so we hang out and frag eachother over Multiplayer a lot which is always fun so long as the TV isn't really tiny.
