I have just installed the latest video drivers for my 6600gt. Now when i try to play any DVD's or games my monitor turns itself into standby mode and the only way it lets the monitor back on is if i restart my computer. I have been into display and changed the settings to never turn of my monitor but after applying and then going back in it has changed itself back to "turn off monitor after 15 mins". Not very helpful in the middle of World of Warcraft. Anyone got a solution.
Welcome to hardwareforums! The "Turn monitor off after 15 mins" setting should only affect you if there is no keyboard or mouse activity, but has never caused any problems (for me) with dvd's! As you have just installed new drivers, Try re-installing them! i cant think of any reason why this would sort the problem, but i also have no idear why thsi is happening so it best to try everything! Also, What version of drivers where you using before? See if you can find them again and try thoose ones, if they work it would suggest that there is a incompatability with the new ones! If your lucky, someone else will have a more helpfull suggestion! good luck!
hi, it sounds like its probably a "Power Managment" issue, left click on the desktop and select "Properties" then click "Screen Saver" then click "Settings" then change the "Turn Monitor Off" to another amount, i have mine set to "Never" that should sort it for you, later, bye.
well i guess you could try the "Power" options in the control panel failing that i would have to think is is probably "Power Managment" in the BIOS
sorry Impotence, i didn't realise your comment were aimed at me, guess i'm a bit out of my depth, sorry
[ot] No need to appologise, i.m sure i have done it may times! [/ot] Foxmale, are you still having problems?
Hi, Well the problem seemed to go away for like 6 weeks. Pure uninterupted warcraft but now its back with a vengence. Turns itself off maybe once every 20 mins. Im getting to the point where im thinking that the tube in the back of the monitor is calling it a day.
Nope! Looks like im gonna have to buy myself another monitor, well i say buy but i mean cadge off one of my mates. It just seems to happen when there is alot of information being passed around my comp. I.E: running multiple screens, using my hearthstone in world of warcraft, running video. Tis like its saying 'to much information, i cant handle it' Its fooking annoying though.
