I am building an external hard drive and have bought an ULTRA ATA/100 hard drive from ebay. However I am not sure I have done the right thing.

Have I limited my choice of enclosures? It seems most are for IDE interface.

Is ULTRA ATA/100 the same as IDE, or will I have to sell this drive and buy another. Have I run into a problem, and would it be best to start again with something that explicitly says IDE? It was advertised on the site under IDE, but later as ULTRA ATA/100.

I don't want to pay for expensive adapter cards, as the only reason I am building this drive is because I don't want to pay in full for a ready built drive.

    Cheers guys
