Hi, I have a Freecom Classic SL 250 Gb external hard drive. Recently, it has started being unavailable - i.e., when I turn my machine on, I can access the files that are on there, but after a while, and seemingly with no reason, it stops being available. Often, this will happen if I'm using iTunes or Media Player, but occasionally it just happens, and I can't access anything on there, although often the folders are still viewable; the files aren't. I hope this makes sense and someone can help. Thanks Daz
Go to: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer Can you see anything in there relating to your hard drive?
Hi, Re Event Viewer, under the System section, there are a lot of entries of type 'Warning' and where the source is 'disk'. I guess these could relate to the external drive, but I'm not sure. These warnings are about 100 per second - there are thousands of them in total Full details of the line: Warning> 28/05/2006>19:32:52>disk>None>51>N/A>DARREN, where the headers are Type>Date>Time>Source>Category>Event>User>Computer. Does this help? Thanks Daz
when your HDD stops working then go to event viewer and see if there is an error message of red colour, if yes then open that even and copy everything from there and paste here.
Go back to the event viewer and double click one of the warning messages. You will be presented with a more indepth analysis. Post the message here
