Ok so i have found two great processors at about the same price, intel one being a littlle more expensive. They are as follow Intel Pentium D 930 800MHz FSB LGA 775 Dual Core Processor Intel Pentium D 930 800MHz FSB LGA 775 Dual Core Processor - Retail at Newegg.com or AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2000MHz HT Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Processor - Retail at Newegg.com im leaning more towards the AMD, but anything goes. I really need some help on deciding. I would like to know which one will handle games better because i have realized that computer gaming is way better than console gaming and want to start with a pretty good system for games. Thanks
i would have to say AMD although Intel CPU's used to be more overclockable but in todays market i'd choose AMD, unless i'm missing something, correct me if i'm wrong guys
AMD, in this case. With the current designs out that are easily available, AMD even trumps Intel in video editing. However, the upcoming Conroe-based CPU's will be very competitive. However, if you're buying now, go with AMD.
alright thanks guys, but just in case are there any other better processors at about the same price or like at most $15 more that are better than 2 before? Or should I just save up for a dual core AMD?
dual-core is mainly for multi-threaded apps, not to be confused with multi-tasking. a single core is better for gaming.
I have the 3500+ Venice and I can run BF2 with 0 lag. That said I do have 2 GB of RAM. Lesson here: RAM is far more important than the CPU or Video Card in BF2. But anyways, the 3500+ is at, the very least, adequate for all modern games.
