Alright well some of you may be familiar with my BF2 grey screen problem or maybe my quake 4 texture problem but now I have another one to toss on the ever growing pile of pc frustrations. I figured if I cant have BF2 right now why not get free and less fun version of Americas Army. So I downloaded that and once again another game doesnt work. It opens and just has a black screen with sound. I'm running 91.31 Nvidia driver and was previously using the 84.21 I believe. But doom 3 runs great. Half of me wants these games to run on my 6200oc(slowly) and the other half wants a good reason to buy a 7600gt.
I have 2 more games to add to my frustrating list of display challenged games. Warcraft frozen throne, and Guild Wars. Warcraft has a black screen with theme music and guild wars just has a flickering screen that flickers between black and my desktop.
maybe its my drivers that could be the problem...if you know please post thank you I dont know what drivers I need so if you could help me and give me the direct link it would be very appreciated.
I might have fixed the problem thanks to BFG technical support. It was some ULI driver that wasnt on ASrocks website. It fixed Americas Army but not quake 4. The other games I am yet to try.
Try some of the non official nvidia divers like Omega drivers or DNA drivers, or possibly try an older Official nvidia driver, i had ths problem with quake 4 that when i started the game up, i just got this grey screen then said that the program has encounterd a problem and that it needs to close, all i did was updated my display drivers and all was well. with some of those games your graphics card might not be able to support the game, also maybe your card is faulty, faulty memory perhaps?, overheating? check your memory and core clock with a thirst part application like rivia tuner, i cant remember if rivia tuner is just for ATi, it may work with nvidia, as with another member i remember them having a problem were there core clock was not set correct or reading incorrectly. Try the core and memory clocks of the normal 6200's that aint factory overclocked aswell.
My quake 4 problem isnt a grey screen. Its a texture problem. But the solution might be the same. thx
