    I have just got a new 300GB sata hdd,
    I already have a 250 GB sata that works perfectly and that my os is installed on also an 80 GB ide hdd

    The problem I have is the new hdd does not show in my computer, I can see iys there in device manager, also my dvdrw has disappeared from my computer - I recently put sp2 on my pc, the dvdrw (LG16x) was working perfectly but now had gone from my computer?

    I can also see all these devices in the bios - I have a mATX asus P4P800 VM mainboard - I know the new drive and dvdrw works because I swapped the sata cables and stuck my windows cd in and it started to install windows??

    Anyone know how I can get windows to recognize the new 300 GB hdd??

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks M

    Check Drive Management:
    -Right-click 'My Computer'
    ->Manage
    Look under Storage-->Disk Management

    If you see them there, you can assign a drive letter (and format the hard drive) by right clicking on the drive to bring up a menu with various options.
    I suspect that for whatever reason, the drive letter was dropped, especially if you just added the hard drive.
    Do know that any programs that require reading a CD will reference the drive letter, so you will want to make sure that you assign the CD drive that letter.

    It's gonna take awhile to format 320GB.

    Do you see the DVD drive in disk management?

    remove the DVD drive from device manager then reboot and XP should autodetect it (obviously when formatting is finished)

    go to [link=http://gb.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp]this[/link] website.

    Click on the product support right over the top.
    Select device drivers and download the drivers for you burner from there. Then select product, OS and type GSA-4167B in the place of Subject. You will get the list of drivers for your Burner.

    The link which you have typed for ebyer is not the one you have. your one is "GSA-4167B"()

    if you think it might muck up windows, set a restore point first before uninstalling sp2. but i highly doubt it would.
