Hi all, The CDRW drive in my Evesham laptop recently packed up, so I bought a new Sony DVDRW to replace it (also from Evesham). I fitted it and it worked fine initially, but when i came to turn my computer on the following day I just got a blank screen - no bios, nothing at all. I turned it back off and tried again, and got the same result. The only change i've made recently is to fit this new drive, so i removed it and now the computer boots fine, but with no dvd drive! Anybody have any ideas what this might be? Seems particularly weird that it worked in the first place but not the day after! Also that it's not even getting as far as bios, so i can't see that changing anything there would help! Thanks in advance for any advice, paul
Yes, but doesn't recognise the drive (gives "secondary master:none"). But this drive was dying anyway! thanks for replying!
I find it weird that it would all stop working after a day, but check to see if the contacts from the board and the drive are actually coming in full contact, and none of them are bent. Other then that, they either work or they dont type of thing with laptops..so something could be wrong with your new drive.
