I am trying desperately to connect my printer (canon MP390) to my 3Com Print server, and just can't seem to get anywhere. Rang 3Com who were less than helpful. Any ideas?
I think quite possibly there is a compatibility issue, also have you tried a different printer to make sure the print server if functioning?
what is the model number of the sever ? does a cat5 cable attach to the print server does the printer attach to the server with a USB cable or parallel cable. do you have a router in your network are you using the routers DHCP ? What is the OS of your work stations did this configuration ever work , or is this new
Hi there yes, I have tried 2 different printers, both of which worked with my Linksys print server. Am using windows XP. Model number is 3Com office connect wireless 54mbps 11g print server, 3CRWPS10075 - it is brand new (although when I rang 3com they claimed it had been registered previously). The only cables that go into the print server are USB to printer, power supply and ethernet cable. Yes I do have a router in my network - Linksys wireless G ADSL gateway with 4 port switch. Not sure I know what DHCP is though! Think that answers all the questions, Thanks Clare
Bizarrely restoring the print server to factory settings again, it now works - maybe all the other times it wasn't doing it properly!
