    Hello to you all!
My first try on this site, I've already had some success in another matter on a French version!

MY PROBLEM: Thanks to a kind Dutch friend, I became the proud possessor of a 2nd PC, and with the old one (A Dell Dimension XP 353-with very limited volume) I wanted to keep the possibility of using the ZIP Cassette system and DVD/CD-R Burner system I had, so - off I went!

Win 98 SE was already installed, so I updated to Win XP, and found myself with BOTH systems (win 98se and XP Pro) installed. Thinking this could only lead to problems, I reformated the whole thing, successfully (or so I thought)-and installed XP Pro on it's own. This was done successfully, or so it said!

When I opened the XP programme, however, I found myself presented with a completely mixed up and blurred, unreadable/unusable version of XP Pro! So I started again, and tried installing XP again - same result!

I then decided to try to reinstall the original Win 98SE, and all went well until I got to the point where I was told the installation would take 30-60 minutes and click "install" to continue.

Happy I was, then a warning window opened - "There is not enough free disc space to install Win 98SE - free some disc space and recommence"!

What I'd like to know is

1). How can I open the installation disc of WIN XP (CD-R Drive) with no system installed? Is it possible?
2). How do I free up disc space (and on what disc) to be able to reinstall at least Win 98 SE?
Any ideas from you experts out there - somewhere? :(

I'd give you all a big kiss if you can help me to avoid dismantling everything and carting my PC off to the "payable" expert, when it may be something quite simple!
    Hoping! (iwmpop):eek:hah:

This might be due to video drivers. Are you sure that you installed all the required drivers after windows installation.

Computer is asking for HDD space. You might have a Win98 Bootdisk. Get one from [link=http://www.bootdisk.com/]here[/link] if you dont have one.
Boot up your computer with that floppy disc inside..then type Format c.

    Well-well!

Imagine! You ain't gonna beleive this! After trying everything (thank you Stanisalove(?) and getting back to my useless blurred XP Pro, I started wondering about other possibilities!
Would - could - you beleive this -MY :swear: SCREEN/MONITOR WAS DEFECTIVE!!!

I tried it out with a different screen/monitor, and everything works! Sorry to have bothered you all :eek:hah: and sorry to have :swear: often at everything and everybody! Now all I need is some kind member to tell me where (in France) I can pick up a FREE screen/monitor!

    Thanks all the same -
