All of the sudden, intermittenly, I have been having problems viewing web content and I finally re downloaded Flash player to view any average thing on the internet. Now, I can't re-download macroflash 8 like I had and don't know if it is the problem, but also, I had a trojan and I quarantined it as well as the fact that now, I cannot download ANYTHING AT ALL. Anytime I try to download even an update off of any downloader website, I get "IE can't open from website or cannot connect" (something like that). Don't know if it is a virus thing or what.......I seriously need some help. I thought it was the flashplayer (Adobe was down) that was causing web content to not display but even when I went to a site showing media files via WMP embedded on their page, that would not work either..... Thanks
IE is not a very good browser to use, if you want to see and join about this problem then go [link=http://www.hardwareforums.com/firefox-vs-ie-weeeeeeeeeeee-13522/]here[/link]. In relation to your problem, download Firefox or Opera browser. Did you run the Anti Virus yet. If you dont have one then install free Avast anitivurs because as per your descriptions, it seems that you are infected with some kind of virus.
I have had Avast for about a month and a half now. I noticed the normal icons haven't been displaying lateyl (such as the E for explorer that is next to the address on the address bar, it looks like a piece of paper with little color dots on it) And sometimes the page has been displaying text big or out of place as well as some pictures not even displaying at all. I have tried to download patches and no matter what page or what site I go to, my internet cannot download "Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." I am looking everywhere, I have no firewall, and just noticed a little while ago, my temperature gauge on my desktop isn't even showing numbers.....there has to be some kinda connection problem yet I can browse the internet and my "network connections" are working fine when I went to the control panel.......fuck
Run that AntiVirus in Safe Mode...... f8 is the key which u need to press when you turns on your computer to enter into that mode.
Free Avast has found these two so far. Win32:SdBot-gen44 [Trj] Win32:Killav-AK [Trj] I quarantined them to the chest. I still cannot download anything from the internet. My weatherchannel desktop thing still isn't updating. I almost think there is something else going on with my connection, but that could be a virus
as well as viruses you need to scan for spyware about once a week, here is (IMO and HWF gods) about the best freeware one, update it, and scan Edit: HiJack, How To: click here
can't download anything so unfortunately that won't help me.......... I have to think there's a reason why Prevx and Avast can update on my computer, yet nothing else can download, and my weather thing won't start up, as it freezes when trying to detect and update to the up to date weather. A port issue? A virus issue? Protocol issue? I just bought a license for Prevx last night and around that time, was when it stopped working for me (downloading and such). Coincidence I'm sure that I have those two above mentioned Trojans, however, I can't view anything on the web requiring embedded Flash 9 or Macromedia 8 or even embedded Window media player so something is messing with my media viewing as well. I can play music and video off of my own hard drive though but something is seriously fucked up here. Thanks again, ~Randy
Hey Randy, try to browse internet in Safe Mode and download the required stuff. Install them and run in the Safe Mode........
I couldn't browse the internet in Safe Mode and when that failed, I tried system restore and although I tried various times starting on Friday all the way up until yesterday afternoon, It wouldn't work either and left me in the same shit. Can this seriously be a virus because what I read on the trojans I quarantined, they weren't that bad for being trojans. But still the question remains........why does my Avast and Prevx have no problem when I hit update, but when I download something through IE, it doesn't work? ~Randy
Let's just try MSN explorer, if dont find in your programs then go to Add Remove Programs > Add Remove Windows Component > Select MSN Explorer and add it.... Use it and see if your problem solves... Edit: You will require windows cd for it. If you are talking about virus then it doesnt mean that it will effect all the programs in the same way. It might have written just for IE. Also, see if your automatice updates are working or not coz microsoft also launches the patch files for their security holes and it comes through automatic updates...
there are no uninstalls for IE on my computer.......even if there are patches to fix the damage, I can't download anything..... I can't do shit
I am not saying that you have to uninstall IE(Also I dont think you can uninstall IE), I m just saying that you have to install MSN explorer, which you will find in the locatoin I've specified in the previous thread. You dont have to go through Internet Explorer to download these patches, you have to turn on your Automatice Updates and you will notice the precentage when Windows start downloading them from Microsoft's server automatically. You can turn on your automatic updates from control panel.
Check your browser's proxy settings under settings --> connections --> LAN and make sure you don't have any proxy settings in there. Also, please check out our Networking and Security FAQ, as I think it has some info that can help you out. Having gone through all that, if all else has failed you may need to simply backup any important data and reformat your HDD. Windows is not a very secure operating system, and as such it is susceptible to some very nasty malware including stealth rootkits, which are undetectable and unremovable. Rootkits can also interfere with antivirus and spyware removal tools, sometimes making recovery impossible.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as MSN Explorer on my machine and when I tried to dl it, it again fails like usual. I'm about to take this thing outside and start it on fire. Brand new fucking machine
Lets just calm down coz I dont think if there is anything wrong with your computer.......Just try to follow what Anti Trend has suggested.. Backup all your important data and do a complete reinstall of operating system. This will definately solve your problem.
once I back it up (will this take an eternity by the way?), should I have an XP disc or do they have a different way of doing it when you buy a machine with it pre-loaded? I don't have a disc because I got it through Tiger Direct loaded
The way I see it, you have three options: Write Tiger Direct, beg for an install disc. Buy a new copy of Windows. Pricey, but cheaper than a new PC. Install a free operating system like Kubuntu. Won't run Windows software, but is a secure OS which will never get infected with a virus, and needs no antivirus tools. Also comes with plenty of free software from office suites to games.
Suddenly an idea appears into my mind. Have you got a USB storage device? Go to any cafe and download all the required stuff like Opera/Firefox browser, adware and install into your computer and see if that solves your problem. Other than that, you have to follow either of the AT's ideas.
