Hi, i used to mega enjoy this game and have just seen it on amazon for 2.99 Whats the chances that this will work on xp?? and i remember it only liking certain graph cards and u had to pick one from the list. will this be a problem. Also can't decide between Oblivion, HL 2 or Prey. any suggestions?? for games that would of run on older systems can i play them on a newer system without any probs or is that asking to much.
Whats your specs? Hl2 all the way, best game outa those three. I dont really think you will have a problem playing that old game on your computer if its preety modern.
Well i found HMV were selling Oblivion for 14.99 so i bought it. so much for which game to buy. Low prices always get me
And to answer your question, yorkkev, Severance should work with XP. It's older, but I seem to recall trying it successfully. Pretty fun game! Hard as hell, though. As for whether to play Oblivion, Prey, or HL2, my answer is: ALL OF THEM. All three are excellent games, and if you can find them cheap, then I urge you to buy them! Oblivion for 14.99, though?! That's sad..I paid $60 for it when it first came out.

Heh, I'm sure! It's an easy-as-hell game to get hooked on. I would be playing it as we speak, except a co-worker at work unintentionally saved over my Lvl 16 Argonian Assassin. HE WAS HEAD OF THE THEIVES' GUILD, for Christ's sake! ...sigh...I'll start over eventually. And yes, Severance is worth getting, especially for that cost. Go for it!
After being engrossed in my other games for some time i finally got round to installing Severance on my system. Unfortunately im experiencing the same problems as when i tried to install in on win2000 some years ago. The game installs no problem and then i get the black screen with no sound (yeah i know this is normal for xp). When i reach the character screen all the colours are messed up and the graphics appear very linnear. From the set-up screen it doesnt matter what graphics card i choose i still get the same outcome. Why did they go through that phase of restricting a game to a set few graph cards? Any ideas on how to resolve this issue.
Errrmmm...yes, I do remember getting those error last time I tried it on XP. My advice would be to go to Start, Help and Support, "Music video games and photos", clicking on Games, and looking for the "Getting older programs to run on XP" tab. It should take you to the Program Compatibility Wizard, which usually gets the game going. I'll check the internet and see if anyone has received the same problem with Severance, but for now, try that.
Well i managed to get the game working early this morning, my next prob is that the game runs fine until i load a saved game. i had a little go lastnight and its still as good as i remember. when i have gone to play it tonight off the save i get screen distortion to the point i cant see the screen properly. If i start a new game though then no such problem exists. I even downloaded the latest patch but still the same thing.
