I currently game on my dad's workstation that he doesnt mind me using. I was wondering if because this runs on Windows XP x64 Pro but is a corporate lisence (not that you would buy in the store) if it would hinder my performance. Every once in awhile there are strange messages that come up, like when i went to install WIndows Media Player 11 it said im using Windows 2003 Server, even though im using Windows XP, and also i dont think there is a SP 2 for this windows version. Anyways, what do ya think?

Hinder? No. Actually, performance goes up with 64-bit. The problem with XP64 is that the driver support and application support isn't really there. That's the killer.

If only XP64 had drivers for my mx700 mouse, or logitech rather...

But anyway, what might hinder the performance is the number of services enabled as they use memory, and that number could definitely be higher on server versions, depending on what your father needs for his work.

Also, do you have a gaming card or a workstation card in there (Ati FireGL, Nvidia Quadro) ? Workstation cards aren't optimised for gaming so if you have one of those and the games you play require features your card doesn't have, the performance will take a hit.

Well...i have my own account on this computer so hopefully there arent too many unnecessary background tasks going on, ill check it out anyways though. He does in fact have a workstation card and i know that will hinder performance...so ill probably end up getting a new computer anyways. Thanks for the help.

PS. I have noticed tons of programs not working b/c of the 64 bit architecture....very frustrating.
