Hello, just registered here, anyways this is my first computer ive built in awhile ive been out of the game for awhile, the last computer I built was a amd xp 3200+ which just crapped out on me so I decided it was time for a upgrade. I bought a Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (AM2) and a Asus M2V. I also bought a Xblade case to put it in and a stick of ddr2 ram. I got all of this for around $400 from a local computer store, I know of newegg.com and other websites like pricewatch.com but im stationed in Alaska and shipping up here is a pain in the ass so its easier if I have a problem to go right down to the store I bought it from. Im going to be playing games like quake4/fear/doom3 was this a good choice to go with for my upgrade? Any video card suggestions im looking to spend around $300-$400.. Thanks
you CPU and Ram is a good choice, i would suggest going for a graphics card like an X1900XTX or 7900GT or GTX, they have gone down a fair bit in price now, dunno how much the 7950GX is tho, what cards are available to you at your local store?, and whats the prices?
Newegg.com - Once You Know, You Newegg) (X1900XT) Open Box: MSI Geforce 7900GTX NX7900GTX-T2D512E Video Card With Full Version Game King Kong - OEM at Newegg.com (7900GTX) Both are vv good cards, the X1900XTX is a little better than a 7900GTX though.
