well im trying to go about building a new system with a decent performace output. but with soo many new upgrades coming out its starting to deter me from building it. Direct-X 10 is expected to come out some time along in January. Which also will give way for ATi and nVidia to release their the next gen GPU's to support Dx10. Intels Quad Core processor is expected in the 07 also. New Mobos will come out to support the NEW GPU's with dx-10 and the quad processor. which will prolly also leave room for new memory. and you know vista si coming out around that time too. too me it seems like i choose the worse time to build a new system with soo much coming out soo soon. anyone else see it that way. should i live out of my laptop for another few months or just build it. if i do build it i wont have the resources to build another one anytime soon.
theres always something about to be released, if you start delaying building a new system because something will be released in Septober, you'll never get your new system, just bite the bullit and build your system
im not delaying a built cause of a certain upgrade but everything possible that can be used to build a computer is coming out and just a faster version which i can upgrade to later. its everything possible.
If you're not on a tight budget, I suggest you wait so you can get the latest gen card/cpu/mobo. Be advised though that availability is always an issue on new products. If you are, then it doesn't matter, build your rig and enjoy it. Right now you can get very good components for very cheap. I mean, a top of the line cpu will cost you under $200, and a very decent video card will cost you under $300. Mobos are cheap too, as always. I would say that now is the perfect time to buy because of ATI's refresh lineup. Discontinued cards are still available but at cheap prices to make place for the new stuff.
