Hi, I'm building a new system (my 3rd) with the following components: 1. Core 2 duo E6300 2. Gigabyte DS3 Mobo 3. Patriot 2GB DDR2 SDRAM (PC2 5300) 4. ATI Radeon X1900XTX video card. When I power it on, I get no power LED coming up, no beep and no POST. Right after powering it on, fans start spinning, they run for five seconds, stop, start turning again after another five seconds and continue spinning forever without anything else happening. I can hear the HDD's spinning. I bought and tried an another mobo (same make & model). Nothing changed. I also tried it without any RAM and with old PC2700 RAM. I also tried two different video cards; No Luck. What are the possibilities now? Bad CPU? What else should I try? Can anything be inferred from the fact that fans start spinning, stop and then start again and then continue running? I'll appreciate any input. Regards, Gravity
It seems generic but have u tried any other PSU coz most of the times, this is the problem. Also, at the back side of the PSU, if there is a button to flip voltages then make sure that it is selected to urs(Warning: Dont touch it if you dont know about it coz ur PSU will blow up with incorrect settings.) Make sure the motherboard surface is not making contact with the metal case (except at its mounting points). Take the motherboard and power supply out of the case and place them on a non-conductive surface (wooden table, etc.). If it boots, something was probably shorting out in the case.
Karan, Antec is NOT generic. 1.No power LED Make sure your + and - jumpers are correctly fitted on your mobo leads for your PLED wires. 2.No beep -This may be a no brainer but just make sure you have a case speaker -Check to make sure your 12V power is plugged in 3.No POST -Check video card is seated properly -------------------------------------------- Try booting up with no HDD, no Optical drive and no floppy.
But B said it is and I just follow that [link=http://www.hardwareforums.com/power-supply-sticky-5218/]Power Sticky Thread[/link]..
You seem to be getting confused. Generic means it's junk. Antec is not generic, it's a good and well-known trusted brand.
First, make sure all power connections are plugged in. Second, make sure the switch on the PSU is flipped on. Failing the above, make sure your CPU cooler is properly installed. Double check any jumpers (consult your manual). Also, check the recommended RAM, as I've heard the Gigabyte P965 boards are a little picky on RAM.
