hi.... i recently upgrade my vcard and psu with 9800pro and kingwin 450w i never had problems untill i set every thing high on far cry graphics and after 5 min. of playing, my pc crash and rebooted out of nowhere and sometimes i get a blackscreen when playing different games. i ran windows memory diagnostic for 4 hours and theres no error. i even reinstall windows and tried 3.9 cat.to 4.4 and still no luck. is my video card dead any help will be appreciated
The reason I ask is because I've had the same problem in XP, and nothing seemed to fix it. I was using a Radeon 8500 at the time, but experiencing the same hardware lockups. I tried everything to no avail (one of the many reasons I hate XP with a burning passion). Finally, after basically giving up, I chanced upon the right combination of video, audio, and chipset drivers and the lockups ceased. Foolishly, I later tried updating my video drivers to fix a major bug and I never could get it right again after that. Not too long afterwards, I uninstalled XP and never looked back...
xp has way to many problems, ive heard before that it has something to do with the uncompatibility with most updated devices (ie:video cards, sound cards, etc) which is why when upgrading this comp i took it to make sure xp would run right with it
i reinstall windows again for the 5th time this week and still getting problems so i turned off fastwrite and set my agp speed to 4x which seems to fix the problem. also im thinking about changing my motherboard.i had enough with my via chipset cause from what ive read in different forums via pt800 and pt880 doesnt get along with ati vcard. so any suggestions for a decent p4 board under $60? cause i dont know alot about motherboards and chipsets thanks a bunch :good: what do you guys think about this board? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-172&depa=1
a decent board for 60 bucks is almost an oxymoron this day and age. if your going to run those goodies, i woud get a more beastly board. just my opinionated mind speaking.
i cant really raise more money for a mobo cause my mom says shes done spending money on computer stuff that i cant get to work
I'd get a board with an Intel i865 chipset instead. If the folks won't buy you stuff, well, it might be time to check into some part-time job if possible. If it's just one thing that's the problem (FarCry), then I really wouldn't be trying to swap hardware. There's not a good brand with a good chipset that you can find new for $60 or less. You can find boards sporting Intel chipsets, but not from brands I'd use or recommend.
You could always tutor people on computer skills... that's how I used to buy parts back in the day. P.S. - Charge by the hour and collect your pay on the way out the door, or you may never get away.
