Hi all, hope someone can help. I'm a complete newbie so please bare that in mind if you think you can help! Here's what I've done: fistly I changed both RAM sticks on my motherboard - this stopped my original problem which was that my PC just beeped at me when I turned it on, that's fixed. However, my Monitor is now not detecting any signal from the CPU. I have tested the monitor and cable on a different machine - they work fine. I have also swapped my video card (I think - the one my monitor plugs into) and that didn't help. I can't think what else to check. Any thoughts?
Whats your full computer specs? Also, check that the 20/24pin and 4 pin power connector is plugged into the motherboard properly.
I'm not sure what motherboard I have but here's what I do know: Pentium 4 PheonixBIOS D686 nVidia MS-8822 ver:2.0 / TVD two western digital HDs: WD1200 (master) & WD200 (slave) I believe that everything is connected and the CPU seems to power up correctly.
did you build this computer, or buy it all? Do you know the make/model of the computer if you bought it?
I bought it: It's a Tiny with serial number PW127264 Both the RAM sticks have been changed and the HDs are from a different computer. At the moment it has a different video card but I only put that in to see if that was the problem - it isn't. I'll try and find the model on the Tiny website.
Aint there a specific name for the computer, not just the serial number, like my Emachines computer was a 150DVD, you got any name for your computer, if there is, it may be on the front, or back. I tried the serial number in google, and it dont find any results, is there a Model Number?
No, there's no name or model number - I couldn't find anything from the serial either! I just found out that neither of the video cards I tried work in one of my other computers so that probably is the problem after all. Thanks for your time though - I appreciate it.
No Problem, were here to help Looks like your going to need a new video card now. But what computer are you on now? do you have a video card in that that you can remove, i would suggest trying a working one in there if you can.
