Made an overview of my build in progress

For the 2.5" HD you can use this converter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BH3Z8E I'd be surprised if too many people watch that video, but you never know :) plus people are lazy best to provide links etc upfront. Parts Brian is looking at: GIGABYTE GZ-X7 -...

What do you think about this configuration?

That looks decent enough to be honest, I have similar setup being used as a media server. Generally its better to get decent branded PSU but depends on what your getting with the case, could be unbranded cheap PSU. There parts are compatible, yes.

    Windows 7 won't recognise Nvidia 9800GT

Try going through the community additions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732199(v=ws.10).aspx particularly the first one about uninstalling the device, it could be listed under different tab/settings page.

    Windows 7 won't recognise Nvidia 9800GT

Yeh does sound like a conflict of sorts, I'd try adding the card again and see what happens. You should be able to disable the on-board graphics via the device manager and then trying installing the drivers again.

    Windows 7 won't recognise Nvidia 9800GT

right, ok, setting it to PCIEx should have done the trick (past experience suggests), maybe try disabling it via the device manager in windows 7.

    Windows 7 won't recognise Nvidia 9800GT

ok I would recommend disabling the on-board graphics via BIOS and then hopefully your other graphics card will be detected.

    stupid sata ports

Thats odd, i guess they are working fine on another computer? Maybe try upgrading to latest bios/firmware. If at one point they were working, it could be that the motherboard has gone faulty, would try and RMA if possible.

    GPU cooler mod

I've only modded the GPU fan to make things quite, are you looking to add something flashy? like led fans? similar to what I've used in the past http://www.quietpc.com/gel-icy-vision

Little help on picking a power supply for PC Media Center

I believe those are pico power supplies, they tend to be used with micro/mini-itx motherboards, I'd imagine the'd work with ATX board is well, just not sure how much additional hardware it could handle though.

    stupid sata ports

It does sound bad, did have similar problem in the past that involved replacing the motherboard. Have you tried using different SATA cables? do the drives get detected under BIOS?

    GPU cooler mod

other than replacing it with quieter CPU cooler, not done anything widely interesting myself but did see someone use some huge CPU cooler that looked crazy.

Do I need a new HDD? 80MB/s Read?

Doubt new HD would help you player newer games, better graphics card would. Faster HDD' will help with the loads times but not the frame rate
