    The Moon .jpg

Well if your gonna have a crack tonight is the night..... weather permitting, of course. The moon is 28,000km closer than usual tonight which means its 14% bigger in the sky and 30% brighter. Take a sequence of 5-30 frames, in raw. And also about 1-5 dark frames. (basically leave all your...

Nothing special but look at the OS requirements

µTorrent - The Lightweight and Efficient BitTorrent Client You wouldnt have seen this a couple of years ago. In fact I feel blessed whenever I see that Linux is supported on software. Linux is multipling and will soon (wel, maybe not soon!) rule the world. maybe.

Why I'm tempted to try a Mac

I suppose it depends on what you use computers for. What does mac do that unix or windows cannot? I know what unix and windows can do that mac cannot!

    Data Shredding

I stumbled upon a wiki page talking about the Gutmann method of overwritting data. It seems to have a lot of criticism based on its design for older drives. So that got me googling. If a 35 pass algorithm isnt "bomb proof" what is? (well, up to 35 passes) The contenders seem to be US...

    The Moon .jpg

Im feeling quite proud of this pic I took tonight. Especially when I google for pics with the same equipment. Its my very first attempt at this kind of thing though I have used CCDs on a decent telescope with Drs and Profs showing us what to do. Basically I can reduce the raw data and apply dark...

please help i know nothing about videocards

Your going back a bit now with those cards! To be honest it depends on exactly which models you have. The radeon did a pro version which might match or slightly outdo the Ti4200. Generally speaking though, the Ti4200 would be the one to go for. The thing is.... there was one of the radeon...

    Mac OSX Dock

I have an iBook G4. 1.2ghz, 1256 DDR ram. 30gb hdd. I installed Xubuntu on it without even looking at OS X. Canonical stopped support for powerpc around version 6.10 or 7.04. I used 7.10 and it worked well. I had wifi, compiz, sound!... it worked well. I uninstalled it because I want to...

    Small Print

Being brought up with the things must help tons but if you throw enough time at them you kind of realise that they aren't all that confusing at all. I didnt touch a PC until 2000 when I bought my first one. We had about a dozen at school but there wasnt any internet so they were just bulky...

    Hi all

Hi. Welcome to the forums! Win98 was probably the best Win9x OS but any 9x OS isnt good! On top of that Microsoft dont support that OS anymore either. The next Windows OS that will work good is Win2000. Its far better! Though Microsoft dont support that anymore either. I think they do the odd...

    Hard drive recovery software

Usually, when you lose data from a drive for no apparent reason its due to bad blobks. Bad blocks cannot be repaired. Program like HDD Regenerator just tell your pc not to use those bad blocks and to use some spare blobks on the end of the drive. Your drive should do this automatically making...

[Logical Error] IDE HDD not detected?

Maybe your original post is too long! Get a program that reads the SMART report from your drive. It will tell you if the drive is almost dead. If it all comes back clear then your partition table or MBR is corrupted. Try a linux live cd. The ubunu one is the easist one to get along with...

Is it ok to remove heatsink fans?

Yeah, exhaust is better than intake/induction. Like the above post says.... an intake towards the HDD is well worth having. Those 3.5" bay fans are good too. I used have an intake blowing towards the CPU HSF and an exhaust directly behind keeps a good flow of cool air over the CPU.
