    Fast refresh rate lcd

I'm afraid the best you are going to find is a 75hz in the general market, and that will probably be forced down to a real 60hz, its just not needed by the general public, supply and demand thing i'm afraid. I hear good things (but no solid numbers) of the refresh rates on the new OLED...

    CRT Monitor capacitor question.

No I agree overrating by so little should be fine, it is underrating that you need to be careful with. Be careful if you are poking about in the back of a CRT, very dangerous! Unless you are on a 3inch thick rubber matt in a proper electronics lab! Even then - I stay clear!

    Time to move to 64bit?

Ive heard nothing but bad things about xp 64bit, compatability wise, i ran it once and once only, if going to the trouble go to vista 64 it seems to have better support. But really the only reason for going to 64 as there are no 64 bit apps or games as yet is if you are going over 3.5gb of ram...

zotac GeForce 9800 GTX "AMP" version?

I always felt that the factory Overclocked cards were pretty good, the best thing that they are Guaranteed! to work at that speed and you can get a replacement if it burns out, as opposed to overclocking a stock card that then burns out but you have invalidated your warranty in doing so...

VERY strange problem with XFX GF 9600GT

I feel you pain mate, nothing so infuriating as a company claiming something is ok when it clearly isnt. I think that in the end its the way that companies treat RMA products that will swing it for them. An example from my experiences - Play.com - i ordered a projector from them, it failed...

    Old harddrive=slow PC?

Aye especially if you have that sort of a page file of that size on a drive that old you'll be having problems. I dont think it is 10 years old however, you'd have been lucky to have a 2gig let alone a 40 (quickly works out how old he was 10 years ago) yeah i'm sure i was pimping a p90 with a...

    Monitor problems. help!!!!

Just in the middle of your desktop, just not on an icon or bar. A quick google got me this to help you: http://www.helpwithpcs.com/tipsandtricks/changing-screen-resolution-win-xp.htm

    Monitor problems. help!!!!

Yeah, if in XP right click on the desktop>bottom option>far right tab (usually) you should see a slider that sets the resolution, dont worry if the screen goes blank, probably means you selected a resolution the screen can't handle - DON'T press anything, the screen will go back to the old...

    Monitor problems. help!!!!

Right well yeah i'd try it unplugged overnight at least. Is the menu responsive or has it frozen there on the screen? Is there a degause button? Try changing to a different resolution, as a CRT has to re-sync you never know may wake it up.

    Computer Cabling

Do you mean a M:M connection?? Not really possible without buying one of these or some on the fly soldering. https://www.datalinkcabling.co.uk/detail.aspx?id=539&page= If you feel ok stripping the cables down the best way is with this: UNBRANDED|S78BKB|CONNECTION BOX, CAT6, BLACK | CPC...

We personally get nearly all our special electronics goods from either: CPC, Farnell or RS components (the later two being for very specialised parts)

    Monitor problems. help!!!!

CRT - Cathode ray tube (like and old tv, big and bluky) LCD - Liquid Crystal Display (Thin and modern) Yeah you'd need to leave it a long time, but depending on the type (LCD/CRT) it may take a very long time, I cant guess how the board may be powered but if its a CRT the tube itself can...

    which PC?

Out of those two i'd hit the dino custom mate, the psu for the other is a big no no if your planning on gaming for it. Kinda cant belive they put 330s in those systems anyway. Alot of my decision is swayed by the fact I always buy AMD /Nvidia combo and hate Intel & ATI - It really is personal...

    Monitor problems. help!!!!

When you say 'unplug' have you powered off the monitor long enough to let the capacitors that will be powering the logic/program board to run down? There is probably a bug in the config program that is keeping the display open and unable to close. If you can work out how to reset it you may...
