Been thinking for a while, there are loads of helpful responses to problems/threads etc that deserve a thank you point, but if the thread starter is a new member then more often than not they won't say thanks my suggestion would be to give mods/admins an extra button that says "award thanks"...

Because HTML could essentially allow bad people to do bad things, not to mention screw up the layout of the site if the syntax is not perfect. (is the reason I found from googling). Plus, for one signature it really isn't worth messing around with imho.
