    Downloading Vista RC2

Has anyone else tried RC2? I cant seem to get it to install. Its fine until the installation reboots my computer, then it hangs and freezes.

    Downloading Vista RC2

I'm gonna dowload and try out the new RC2 version of vista. Should I use the 32-bit or the 64-bit version? I don't quite understand the difference yet.

    Motherboard monitor

Oh i see. Do you know of any way to monitor them? Besides in the BIOS? I could monitor my GFX card's temp up until I updated the driver and forceware, then the option disappeared. I'm more worried about the GFX temp then the CPU.

    Partition trouble

I partitioned my disk into 2 100Gb partitions, C: and D: drives. I loaded all my games onto the second partition, Drive D:. The problem is, my desktop shortcuts will lose their connection sometimes and I will have to make new ones. Not only that, but when I try to apply certain game patches, it...

    Motherboard monitor

where is a good place to dowload motherboard moniter software, already tried Motherboard Monitor 5, but made my system crash. I don't think that it supports AM2 (which is what mine is) boards yet. Also I need software to monitor my nVidia GFX card, anything good for that?

My rig is done! And it works!!!

Well almost all of it. I got the tower and all its hardware components. Just need the monitor, keyboard, and mouse then I'm set. For anyone thinking of building their own, it's alot easier than you would think. And even being a noob of overclocking, I got my Athlon 3500+ to easily hit...

    FX55 and socket AM2

Definately not. The pin layout is totally different, but that's just one of many reasons.

    My first pc build

Sounds good to me. Yes the AM2 systems will be more upgrade friendly, since AMD will now base all the new processors on AM2. Also, you get the faster, less expensive, lower power memory(DDR2). Nice pick on the PSU too.

You'll need your CD/DVD drives aslo. That processor should be fine for what you're doing, but you can get an ati X1800 or X1900 of newegg for just a little more. I would also get the extra 512Mb of RAM too. If you don' mind me asking, how did you get your display to work again? I did the same...

    My first pc build

I went with socket AM2. Yes, you only need the 240-pin memory if you get an AM2 board and processor, otherwise its 184-pin. Here's my recommendation: MOBO:ASUS if you want, but I would go with something that overclocks a little better, like a DFI LanParty, but it is more complicated to set...

    My first pc build

Yeah, either change your CPU to socket 939 or change your mobo to socket AM2(you'll also need different memory; DDR2 240-pin), and go with XP Pro. Everything else looks fine, you even got the same case as me! The 65w version of the CPU is just a power saving version of the original. No...

    16: ratio in games

I dont think the programmers would go through the hassle of giving you more viewing area side-to-side, they probably actually cut the top and bottom off, giving you less viewing area.

Wow, i cant believe that it maxed out at 58fps in Oblivion. I couldn't get my card to do 5fps even indoors. I never even made to an outdoor scene. Oblivion with my card looks like a PowerPoint presentation. I find it hard to beleive those frame rates with any PCI card.

    AM2 Gaming Rig: Processor

AAAAHHHHH!!! I was just about to order my 3800+ of newegg, but they pulled it of there! They still have the 3500 and the 3800 X2 (which they lowered the price on by 3 bucks.....woohoo). So I think I'm just gonna go w/ the 3500 and overclock it a little.

I'm not sure, but I dont belive FarCry will work very well on there either, that game is pretty taxing on low-end systems. All the others should work fine. To tell you the absolute truth, the 5500 isnt that much better than the onboard video I had, maybe 10%. Try for a better card than the 5500...

What will the PSU power without the processor?

Just to let you know, I have the 3D Fuzion FX 5500 and you will not be able to play BF2, it will look like a slideshow no matter what settings you have it on. And you'll kinda be able to play CS:S but you'll max out at about 12fps, which is still barely playable. If you plan on playing those...
