    Hard drive constantly seeking

    It's definitly not a virus. I'm using vista ultimate. I've tried to run a spinrite but it sits there saying "selecting drive for use" and then just fails. Not sure if it makes a difference but its a sata drive.

    Hard drive constantly seeking

    I have a hard drive on my gaming machine that is constantly seeking. The light is pretty much on solid and I can hear the drive crunching away. Indexing is turned off, CPU is at 1% usage when idle, I can't figure out why it is doing this.

    Right now I have 2 gigs of PC2-5300 (corsair value select) I have a 3rd stick of XMS PC2-5400. Will the PC2-5400 downclock to match the PC2-5300 if I put that in?
