I have checked plugs and don't appear to be any problems. Have a second drive and have swapped power plugs with no difference. I think I am resigned to spending birthday money on new drive!!

I have had an NEC DVD RW 3500 drive in my PC for ~10 months and had no problems until now. It won't play CDs of any sort but, it will play DVDs. It won't record on anything. I have been using Ulead videostudio7 to make DVD movies and also Nero6 for most other recording jobs. All working fine...
