Playonlinux first impressions (wine front end)

I have had a brief play around with this and I thought it was pretty good too. Wine-Doors is a good alternative, but it's aimed more at Windows applications. I have to say that, after playing around with all the WINE-like applications, such as Wine-doors, Playonlinux, Cedega and Crossover, I...

    Acid 3.0 Test Introduced

I highly doubt that Firefox 3 will be the fastest and most standards compliant browser when the final version of Opera 9.5 is released. Reports have shown that the most recent nightly build of Opera 9.5 is a good match for Firefox 3 On a side note, Opera 9.5 for Linux, when released, should...

Another hardware aint so bad on Linux thread

Following my sheer joy at having no problem setting up an proprietory Marvell Wireless PCI Windows network card driver using NDISWrapper, I now bring you another "Myth beater" about Linux and hardware = The all-in-one printer, scanner and copier! My mate bought me an HP Deskjet F2180...

    Connection from PC to router

Use a standard RJ45 ethernet cable to connect a PC to a router. You would only use a crossover cable if you wanted to connect a PC directly to another PC.

    IE7 faster and easier!!!

As much as I don't like Internet Explorer, there is no denying that Internet Explorer 7 is far superior to version 6, if only for tabbed browsing and integrated search.

    Internet Explorer 7... WHY

What's SYSfader? I would check that out first.... Re-installation is the last option. Install Tune-up Utilities and run a registry clean

Vista SP1 might be released on february 4th

Not sure if this has been covered yet because I can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but... Service Pack 1 for Vista is already available for Technet and MSDN subscribers. The reason it hasn't been made available to the general public yet is because SP1 actually manages to "break"...

    Why does windows suck?

I would not recommend Ubuntu Dapper Drake for a new Linux user. Sure it's an extremely stable and solid release, ideal for business workstations and servers, but later releases are much more user friendly. I'd recommend you give Ubuntu another try. Download the latest version, Gutsy Gibbon...

    Acid 3.0 Test Introduced

The latest beta of Opera 9.5 performs much better then the 9.2x series. Unfortunately Opera 9.5 beta is buggy as hell. It crashes at least once every day. But the improvements in Opera 9.5 beta 1 over every other browser are such that I can put up with the unstability for now :)

Tips on how to use Laptop batteries

If you are going to use your laptop at home most of the time it makes sense to remove the battery so it is not in a constant state of charging. I only put my laptop battery in if I am using it on the move.

    Kde4

I am just gauging opinion on the matter. I used to run KDE3 full time. In fact, KDE was the first Linux desktop environment I ever used. I still respect the project massively, but don't necessarily agree with some of their project goals anymore. KDE 4 is an interesting release and as I...

    why is Ubuntu so popular

Fair cop on all your points. We can agree to disagree! What really matters is that we are both happy with the distributions we are using, and above all else, we aren't using Windows Vista! :D
