Hi All! 1st Post. 2 Questions... I just ordered a new Dell system that includes the following video card: "ATI Radeon HD 3450 256MB supporting HDMI" This was the best one I could order for this computer, and I'm open to possible upgrades later. I do zero gaming on the computer. My question is this: HDMI in the home theater world carries video and sound. I intend to run this cable from the pc to my HDTV, and am wondering if I will need to run sound cables separately? I also ordered a BlueRay player as my optical drive choice. I assume I will be able to use this for movies, correct? Or is some other software required to use the computer for this? Thanks for any help I can get!! Matt
There should be an internal connector that joins your sound card (onboard or otherwise) to your graphics card in order to send sound down the HDMI cable - Dell however are as always a law unto themselves so i'd make sure that they have done this for you! There should be blueray decoding software included with the drive - if not get powerdvd Welcome to HWF
Ferg... Thanks a lot! I appreciate the quick response and the welcome! Now, if Dell can ever get this thing finished, I'll be a happy camper!
