Hi guys, before I get my latest rig set-up instead of having cables running accross the floor I was wondering if it would be possible of having more than one wireless access points in my premisis (another wireless router that of a different make/model?). My SpeedTouch 585 router is situated downstairs where the Master Socket it and I don't want to interup this connection as my singal to noise ratio when moved upstairs via an internal extension wiring moves down dramaticly (over 10dB). It would be more convieniant if I have 2 wireless routers - one existing downstairs serving several laptops and another one upstairs serving my personal computer and a few others. As with the one downstairs I have frequent dropouts due to low signal (still low signal/interferance with all channels 1-13 in my case). All in all I was wondering if it is possible to sustain an internet connection with 2 wireless routers (1) from the master socket downstairs and (2) one upstairs from the internal house wiring?
I have just got my other router, it is a CNet Wireless-G Router CWR-854. However, I cannot connect to the config set-up at 192.168.1.1 it simply timeouts all the time, also I cannot ping it. Any ideas why? Thanks.
Sorry so are you trying to use two ADSL modems on one phone line to get two seperate net connections and wireless networks? Or just make a bigger network?
I am using one ADSL router and one WAN router - trying to get a bigger coverage of the network. Because if I put one downstairs the signal is not strong upstairs and vice versa.
You need to set your WAP to repeater mode, but I doubt it will work if they are not two compatable pieces of hardware, I'm doing something similar to this at work.
