Hi all, first up this is the first time I`ve used any forum for help as I cant find an answer to my problem anywhere and I really need your help.
    Here is my rig info

    Core 2 duo E6600 @ 2.4 ghz

    Corsair Twin XMS2 pc6400 2x1gb -5 5 5 18

Abit Fatality FPIN9-SLI with latest bios

    XFX 8800GTS XT 320mb

currently Vista 32mb service pack 1, but had same problem with xp service pack 3

The problem im having is whenever I install more than 2gb of memory my system goes tits up. this will vary from BSOD to lock ups during games and bad graphical glitches during benchmarking(3d mark 06)then eventually crashing. even internet explorer throws a wobbler. Ive used identical memory modules and even returned them and tried more to no avail. whats going on people? Im aware of the 3gb rule under a 32bit OS rule but this is different. when I remove the additional memory everything runs sweet as! I want to upgrade my graphics card and memory but this is holding me back a bit and Im gonna throw myself out of the window! (just joking im not that desperate yet) any help I will be eternally grateful.

    Welcome to HWF :)

I'm suspecting the motherboard to be faulty. But first I'd suggest to remove all the RAM, and put only the new purchased RAM on the motherboard. Then try it again. If it runs fine, then I'm certain that there's a problem with the motherboard, because you also inform us that you get graphical glitches when using more than 2 GB of RAM.

I've also looked at the specs of the motherboard, and it should support up to 32 GB of RAM. So 2 GB is not the maximum supported amount.

    RHochstenbach,

thanks for your quick reply. I already tried that the new memory works no problem, its only when I try to add more does the problem arise. FYI I had this problem on my ASUS P5N-e-SLI motherboard before I fried it doing a bios flash in windows(I know you are now sucking in air through you teeth at the very thought :)) any way I picked up my current motherboard which is almost identical and yes, same problem. its definatley a hardware problem related to this motherboard but is there a fix and has anyone else had problems? I look forward to your replies
