8800 Gts 320mb

hello peeps

I want to buy an 8800 GTS 320MB from overclockers next week would a 500w psu be ok and be able to cope with it? because at the moment i have a gforce 6800 GS 256MB and this card struggles a bit with games such as battlefield 2

Your 6800GS should have no problem with Battlefield 2. Even if you would run it 1600x1200 res you would get above 40 fps.

What processor do you have? Maybe its bottleneck for your 6800. If yes, then you shouldnt buy 8800 GTS 320 mb.

Intel E6600 core2 2.40 ghz
2GB ram
360 GB hd
500w psu + raidmax ninja case 1x80mm, 2x120mm fans
6800 GS 256mb but i want an 8800 GTS 320mb
Abit AB9 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
vista home premium

my old setup was dire, this is what i used to play bf2 on lol

1.8 ghz amd athlon 3000+
1GB ram
40 GB hd
350w psu
cant remember the mb type
6800 gs 256mb
windows xp

my new setup should run it no problem at all in high settings but i still want an 8800 GTS :P
 
What I suggest for you is NOT to take 8800 GTS 320 MB version. Why? Well, the newer games the more RAM they will take (more ram for newer cards is strongly recommended when playing at high resolutions). I suggest you to take HD2900XT. It's better card for future. Remember this, 8800 GTS 320 MB is high end DX 9 card, not DX 10. When DX 10 will be release 2900XT will do better job on it. ;)

Yes, 2900XT "eats" more power, yes, it's more noisy, but it blows away 8800 GTS 640 MB version and sometimes is better than 8800 GTX. With every 2900XT drivers release its performance increases much. So, take a little more money and go for 2900XT. It's best you can get now.
 
Abit AB9 Pro, yes? P965 chipset.

Your Motherboard supports crossfire technology. This means that you can install 1x/2x ATI video card in it.
 
Nah i have the Abit AB9 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard and it only has 1x pci-e slot so i cant do it.
