$900 to spend. What should I get?

    I want a nice gaming system that will last me a year or two. I also want it to be upgradeable and be able to play Half Life 2 easily. What should I get? I have been looking around the net trying to find prebuilt systems and all the ones that are $800-900 dollars suck. If I try to build my own from parts on newegg, I get confused on what I should be looking for. Any ideas?
