I've replaced my crappy abit fan with a Zalman northbridge heatsink, which has got the temps below anything the abit fan could ever get.
However - how do I turn off the alarm that tells me the northbridge fan is unplugged? At the moment I've got it plugged in and dangling inside the computer because there's nowhere to put it, and I can't find how to turn off the alarm.

    my board is the KV8.
    Thanks in advance!

Check your manual and see if there isn't a jumper to disable that. Yes, it's Abit, but I have noticed that they aren't exactly jumperfree on some things, and this could be one of them. The other place you might want to look is under the PC Health section of BIOS, or possibly uGuru (or Softmenu).
