I have a bit of an antivirus problem. I accidently moved it and now it doesnt work and I cant find the installation cd so i cant reinstall it so im stuck. I have 1 folder in my D drive that is called symantec antivirus and I have 2 antivirus folders in my C drive labeled symantec antivirus and symantec. plz someone help my comp is running very slow and I cant fix it b/c i dont have an antivirus.
no, symantec antivirus is your AV software folder and symantec is for misc utils, just move the folder back to its original location and restart, and all should be ok
Ok well I already tried moving the file back and I tried system restore. But I found my charter virus protection and was going to install it but I needed to uninstall my symantec first. So I went to control panel/add remove programs/symantec antivirus and I tried to uninstall it but it asked for the disk in order for me to uninstall it. Seeing as how I didnt have the disk I instead just installed charter antivirus anyway. As I type this it is scanning my system for viruses. So I guess my new question is how do I uninstall my old virus protection? thx
[link=http://www.cit.cornell.edu/helpdesk/win/nav/uninstallnav.html]How do I completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus?[/link] Thats what I've found on the internet with a quick search. Hopefully it will work for you.
you could just leave it installed, but just disable it, try this and stop Symantec AV from running at XP start
you should dump symantec and use avast!. it is realy good and its free. www.avast.com. i used to use symantec but then i got a virus and it disabled it. i have been angry at them ever since. plus i dont like spending money.
