I was going to buy an Asus A8N-E MoBo but after reading the forums on Asus.com it seems like there is alot of trouble with the MoBo. But in other forums and in alot of reviews people say it is the best board they have ever gotten. This is my first build and after all the books I have read they all said Asus is top notch, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
In the event you decide you want SLI there's this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131517 Or you can go with a cheaper yet still solid mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131523 ASUS is a very respected brand so you should have no prob finding good reviews about these. Very nice mobos in my opinion, there are some other fans on this site that will no doubt praise ASUS. As for the A8N-E, I haven't heard anything about it, bad or good so I can't say anything there.
Like he said before, I'm one of those fans, I have an A8N-SLI-Deluxe, I believe its the same board you have with some add ons and SLI capabilities with the nforce 4 SLI i think its a good buy, just beware because chipset fans that look like those are known for emitting a high pitched fan noise in the background ( i dont notice it, some do though) Nforce4 Ultra is a revised and perfected version of the nforce4 and has the same qualities of the SLI version only lacking the SLI
The A8N-E is a newer motherboard so there's probably a few bugs on it. You also need to consider that those with problems are more likely to pipe up than those without issues. Personally, I've been very pleased with any Asus board I've used. If you want a quality motherboard that you can drop in and go, Asus is a very good start. Now, you may pay a little extra because of the name, but it is well deserved. I ran my recently departed A7V for over four years almost non-stop. If you don't know the A7V, it was one of the first Socket A motherboards on the market. It has some sentimental value to me because it was the motherboard that got me into the enthusiast side of things.
big big fan of ASUS here ^-^ they have a very good reputation didn't screw up as many times as some other companies and have good profits off their high tech coffee machines AKA vento 3600's to their mobos
