Asus laptop no boot, no bios

Hi,

I have an Asus laptop which worked pretty well for just over 2 years. Sure, I had problems with it (complete system crashes), but I think that all those problems were due to the wonderful Windows. In Linux, on the same system, everything went perfectly. So, it was a dual-boot.

Two days ago I decided though to use the recovery tool from Windows to restore it to the state just before I install it (there were just too many errors with Windows). I knew that this would destroy the dual-boot, but it was quite easy to install Linux again. I had a system-restore disk. What happened is that, when Windows required a restart in order to proceed with the recovery, the system crashed completely. It just displays the Asus logo and it remains in that state. I cannot enter in BIOS.

The keyboard looks functional (the caps lock lights up when pressed). The hard-disk button lights up and, as far as I can tell, it makes the same noise as when it was working properly. The processor and the cooler seem to work fine.

So, what could I try with it? The warranty has just expired.

I'm thinking about a BIOS reset, but I don't get it how a software thing can corrupt the BIOS!

Sounds like the boot loader got messed up,You will have to wipe the entire disk and start from scratch..You will need a program called Hirens boot Cd,
You will need to remove both partitions and Boot loader.. Then I would run some kind of hard drive repair software like Hard drive Regenerator...
 
It doesn't boot anything, no CD/DVD/USB. Nothing. Can't see what settings are in BIOS because I cannot access the BIOS.
 
It doesn't turn on ? Sounds like you need to reset the bios .. Some how you will have to remove the battery for 10 minutes.. Not sure on a laptop though..
 
It turns on, but it remains only with the Asus logo. I can't even press Escape or del or whatever to enter in bios. The keyboard seems to be working though.

Yes, I thought about removing the battery, but I cannot find it!
 
Try unplugging from the wall, remove the battery, press and hold the start button for 10 seconds, Then reinstall the battery and plug in to the wall and test it..
If that dont work, you will have to remove the bios battery for 10 minutes... What is this laptop make and Model ? Also pull the hard drive out, and wait a couple minutes and then replace..
