Here are the specs for my computer:
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
    ASUS P5KC
    OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory
    Point Of View 8800GT 512MB GDDR3
    Pioneer DVR-215BK 20X SATA DVD±RW
Corsair 550W VX Series PSU - 120mm Fan
Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro
I-Cute Black UL01 Mid Tower Case
    Hiper 120mm Case Fan

The problem is that, although they have sort of worked together until recently, the P5K motherboard and the 8800GT graphics card don't like each other. I think the problem is with the motherboard.

Any ideas on what to do about it? Should I just replace the motherboard (with a different make, but the same chipset) or can I upgrade? This was the first computer I built and my knowledge is still very limited.

Thanks in advance for all answers.

    Hi,

What is it the problem that is happening between the 2? Is there no video at all or something else? Before replacing anything, I would test the card in another computer if possible. Also, if there is no video at all, I would try a different monitor, video cable, and a different video card if possible first. If you have more than one pci-e slot, try the card in a different pcie slot. Its possible a power supply issue can cause problems as well, but it all depends on what errors you are getting.

    Hi Wildcard,

I've been through all of these steps before. The motherboard is fine and the card is fine, but they are not fine together. What I'm asking for is recommendations to replace the motherboard (go with Gigabyte? Which model?) I do appreciate the help, though.

I think I'll stay with the same chipset then, in order to be safe, seeing as no-one can help me.
