After a lot of trial and error with RAM in my Rampage Extreme motherboard I found that the memory controller was bad. After RMAing, Asus offered to replace the board with a Rampage 3 Extreme. Obviously this is a better board but I already have an Intel Q9650 processor. I would have to buy another i7 processor for the new board and then possibly sell the Q9650.

Asus did say that they could attempt to locate another Rampage Extreme if I didn't want the Rampage 3 Extreme. So what would you do? Take the new board and buy a new i7 processor or wait for another Rampage Extreme? Btw, I'd rather not spend too much more money on the machine.

The machine will be used primarily for 3d modeling.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Hi,

Unless you need something right away, I would give them a little time to see if they can find another board. If they cant, and if you cannot get a refund, then I would accept the other board.
