Greetings All! I've read a few posts regarding this problem but I still have not found a solution yet. Playing the game Far cry the graphics card crashes for no apparent reason mostly after a few minutes. I've disabled the VPU Recover in the control centre, set the AGP speed to 4x and also turned off the AGP fast write but it still crashes I have also updated all the display drivers. I don't think this is a heat issue as the temperature readings are normal & I've even opened up the case and used a desk fan to cool and it still crashes. Has anyone else had this problem & if yes how did you resolve it? thanks -------------------------- Lian-Li PC V1000 Silver Aluminium Midi-Tower Asus A8V Deluxe (Socket 939) Wireless Edition AMD Athlon 64 3500 (Socket 939) 2x Crucial 512MB DDR PC3200 Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB Tagan TG480-U01 480W Silent PSU
I've seen some people run into issues like this due to the order they installed their drivers. What you'll want to do is uninstall your drivers for your motherboard and video card for starters. Then, come back and remove all instances of the drivers, in particular the ATi drivers, which should be something like atixxx.xxx. For best results, don't restart unless you have to before removing all the ATi drivers. Okay, once that's done, reboot. Install your motherboard chipset drivers, preferrably the latest. Reboot. Now, install the latest drivers from ATi. Reboot. Try to play your games again. If it's just limited to one, check to make sure you've got the latest version of the game, and patch it if not. There may be some stuff I don't know about, so you might also want to check out the forums over at Rage3D if the above doesn't fix your problems.
Iv'e noticed that when the pc reboots the screen resolution changes to 800x600 pixels instead of the 1024x768, I normally change it back but it soon crashes. The game seems to be stable and playable if I leave the resolution at 800x600 Any Idea why this is? HL2 (the Lost Coast) still crashes though.. Cheers.
