Hi, I currently have a laptop with an ati x300 chip in it, and it works for everything I use it for now (i.e. cs:source, World of warcrat, etc). However, I'd like to get another laptop because the one I have now is a bit big, and I'd like something a little smaller. Would the xpress 200m (128mb) compare well to an x300 (128mb)? Thank you.
xPress 200m - As far as IGPs go this is the best you can get. Some versions of this actually come with 128MB of dedicated memory, which is weird, because it's an IGP. The smaller versions of these actually use HyperMemory coupled with a small dedicated buffer (the 16MB and 32MB parts), while the large one (128MB) uses HyperMemory to boost its addressable RAM to a very impressive 256MB, even though the core itself can't really use more than 128MB. Compatibility of this part is flawless and it'll play most games available barring the super intense ones, even if at very low resolutions. The xPress 200m is a stipped down version of the X300, while the X300 is itself a stripped down version of the X600. The eXpress having 2 Pipelines and the X300 Having 4 Pipelines to work with. If your into gaming, i'd try to not get either of these chips in a laptop. For mainstream, try getting a Mobility Radeon 9700, Mobility Radeon X600 or a GeForce FX Go 5700. For a high end chip, try getting a GeForce Go 6600 or a Mobility Radeon X700
