There are two types of Nuclear weapons: The older style bomb used fission reaction and are scientifically called fission bomb, it was used back in the days when the Americans dropped it over Nagasaki and Hiroshima, it is traditionally called the Atom bomb or A bomb. The modern version should really be called the hydrogen bomb or H bomb and scientifically called the thermonuclear bomb, it also uses fission reaction but works differently to the A bomb. hope that answers your question.
